Privacy Policy
Last updated: August 2026
The short version
The mailto: generator runs entirely inside your browser. The email addresses, subjects, and message bodies you type into it are never sent to us, logged, or stored on any server we control. If you send us a message through the contact form, we receive only what you write in the form, and we use it only to reply. This policy explains everything in more detail, including which third parties are involved and what cookies you may encounter.
Who we are
Mailtolink-generator.com is a small, independent website operated by a solo web developer. When we say 'we,' 'us,' or 'our' in this policy, we mean the site owner. You can reach us through the contact page for any privacy-related question.
What the tool itself collects
Nothing. The generator is client-side JavaScript that assembles the mailto: link inside your browser tab. The recipient address, CC, BCC, subject, body, and link text you type stay in your device's memory and are transmitted to no server. Copying the link puts it on your local clipboard; testing the link opens the link in your own email application. We cannot see, log, or associate any of that with you.
Local storage (Smart History)
If you use the copy or test buttons, the tool saves a short list of your six most recent links in your browser's localStorage, so you can quickly reuse them next time. This list stays on your device — it never reaches our servers, and we have no way to read it. You can wipe the list at any time with the 'Clear' button in the tool, or by clearing site data in your browser.
The contact form
The contact form is powered by a third-party form-handling service (Web3Forms). When you submit the form, the name, email address, and message you enter are transmitted to that service and forwarded to our inbox. We use the information only to reply. We retain the message for as long as the conversation is active and then delete it. You can ask us to delete an earlier message at any time.
Cookies and similar technologies
The tool itself does not set any cookies. The site as a whole may use a small number of cookies, described below. Where required by law we ask for your consent before setting non-essential cookies. You can always block or delete cookies in your browser settings; the tool will still work, though some third-party features (such as ads or analytics) may not.
Analytics
We use privacy-respecting, aggregate analytics to understand how many people visit each page, which browsers they use, and which links they click. Analytics do not identify individual users to us. Where the provider requires it, an analytics cookie may be set.
Advertising (Google AdSense and other partners)
To keep the site free, we may show ads served by Google AdSense and/or other third-party advertising networks. These partners use cookies and similar technologies (including the DoubleClick cookie) to serve ads based on your visits to this site and other sites on the internet, and to measure ad performance. Google's use of the DoubleClick cookie enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visit to this site and/or other sites on the Internet. You may opt out of personalised advertising by visiting Google's Ads Settings at https://www.google.com/settings/ads or by using the industry opt-out tools at https://www.aboutads.info/choices. Consult each advertising partner's privacy policy for how they handle your data. We do not share the email addresses or message content you enter into the generator with any advertising partner — that content never leaves your browser in the first place.
Donations
If you choose to make a voluntary donation, the payment is processed by a third-party payment provider (for example PayPal). We do not receive or store your full payment details. The provider processes the transaction under its own privacy policy.
Server logs
Our hosting provider maintains standard server access logs (IP address, timestamp, requested URL, user agent, referrer) for security and abuse-prevention purposes. These logs are retained for a short rolling window and are not used to profile individual visitors.
Data transfers
The Service is hosted on infrastructure that may be located outside your country. Where personal data is transferred internationally, we and our providers rely on standard legal safeguards such as the EU Standard Contractual Clauses.
Children's privacy
The Service is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information through the contact form, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, port, or delete the personal information we hold about you, to object to certain processing, and to lodge a complaint with your local data-protection authority. The only personal data we typically hold is the content of any message you sent through the contact form. Email us via the contact page to exercise any of these rights and we will respond within one month.
Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we revise the 'Last updated' date at the top. For material changes we will make reasonable efforts to draw your attention to them, for example through a banner on the site.
